What to think through before the first roll is opened
Wallpaper installation is shaped by the material and the wall beneath it. Traditional paper, vinyl, grasscloth, murals, and peel-and-stick products each have different handling and surface considerations.
Wall condition and preparation
A wall may need repair, smoothing, cleaning, priming, or removal of an old finish before new paper is a sensible next step. If the surface has patches, texture, moisture concerns, or several old layers, mention that when you call.
Pattern, seams, and corners
Pattern repeat affects how much material is needed and where a layout begins. Doors, windows, corners, trim, outlets, and changes in wall plane all influence the cut and the visual rhythm of the room.
Call with the room, the material you are considering, and the question you have. Photos and measurements can be useful later, but they are not prerequisites for making contact.
Peel-and-stick and specialty materials
Peel-and-stick wallpaper still depends on a suitable, clean, smooth surface and careful alignment. Specialty wallcoverings may have their own installation requirements. The product information and actual wall condition should guide the conversation.
